Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) is greatly beneficial in treatment of productive cough i.e. cough with expectoration. It works as an expectorant to loosen and thin mucus. Mulethi have a demulcent effect that will help break up mucus settled in lungs, and it acts as an expectorant. It will help expel the mucus as well. Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum) is the most significant medicinal plants mentioned in ayurvedic texts. This herb is famous for its household use in treatment of various diseases such as injury, respiratory diseases, viral infection, stomach diseases etc. Tulsi is very beneficial in treatment of respiratory diseases. Turmeric decreases congestion and inflammation from stagnant mucous membranes, which coat the throat, lungs, stomach and intestine. It helps the lungs to expel kapha. Lasuna (Allium Sativum) is among the oldest of all cultivated plants. It has been used as a spice, food and traditional medicine for over 4000 years and is most widely researched medicinal plant. Kayphal (Myrica Esculenta) is an important medicinal plant. Traditionally, it has been used for treatment of cough, asthma, fever, chronic bronchitis and inflammation. The plant is reported to have innumerable significant pharmacological activities like analgesic, anxiolytic, anti-allergic, anti-microbial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Dalchini (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum) is a most common aromatic herb with various medicinal properties. This herb manages vata & pitta component of body. It provides relief in sore throat, influenza, common cold and headache. It is also used as an expectorant and have anti-tubercular activity. Dalchini is also utilized against Covid-19. Talispatra (Abies Webbiana) has been reported as anti-bacterial , anti-fungal , anti-inflammatory , anti-tussive , anxiolytic, CNS depressant. In ayurvedic system of medicine, it is used for the treatment of COPD, cough, hiccup, vomiting and mouth disorders. Trikatu is an ayurvedic polyherbal formulaion of pippali (piper longum), sunthi(zingiber officinlae), marich (piper nigrum).
