Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum) is the most significant medicinal plants mentioned in ayurvedic texts. This herb is famous for its household use in treatment of various diseases such as injury, respiratory diseases, viral infection, stomach diseases etc. Tulsi is very beneficial in treatment of respiratory diseases. It is very good and effective remedy for all kinds of respiratory disorders, cough, cold and sore throat. Triphala is a polyherbal tridoshic (pertaining to all 3 doshas i.e. vata, pitta, kapha) rasayana (rejuvenator) consisting of AMLA (EMBLICA OFFICINALIS), HARAD (TERMINALIA CHEBULA), BAHEDA (TERMINALIA BELLERICA). Triphala plays a crucial role in enhancing body’s resistance towards various diseases. It possess restorative and rejuvenating powers as they act on the immune system and positively affect the response of body towards infection. The active compounds present in triphala make it a potent medicine against various ailments related to upper respiratory tract, gastrointestinal system, urinary tract etc. It also acts as an expectorant and anti-tussive agent. Daruhaldi (Berbreis Aristata) is a famous plant and used in various medicinal systems. In the traditional medicinal system, the plant is used to treat skin diseases, menorrhagia, diarrhea, inflammation and wound healing. The main active constituent of the plant is Berberine found mainly in its roots. The most important formulation of this plant is Rasaut that acts as a tonic as well as blood purifier. Clinical studies showed that the plant possesses various pharmacological properties like antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory & cardiotonic activity. According to Ayurveda, it is shothahara (treat swellings), deepana (appetizer), pittasaraka (maintains metabolism), raktashodhaka (blood purifier), lekhaniya (reduce toxicity) & rasayana (rejuvenator). Lasuna (Allium Sativum) is among the oldest of all cultivated plants. It has been used as a spice, food and traditional medicine for over 4000 years and is most widely researched medicinal plant. Lasun has pharmaceutical effects and is used to cure various ailments like B.P. , cholesterol, cancer, asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis, rhinitis, arthritis, indigestion, diabetes etc. (Journal of Medicinal Plant Studies). Tagar (Valeriana Wallichii) is used in ayurveda for medicinal purposes. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory conditions. It is beneficial in treating diseases caused by vata and kapha imbalance. Banafsha (Viola Odorata), also known as sweet violet, is a rich source of vitamin C. It has pungent & bitter taste and pungent post digestive effect. It has hot potency and balances vata & pitta dosha. It exerts anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and antibacterial activity. A unani medicine Joshanda used for cough & colds contain this valuable herb. Kayphal (Myrica Esculenta) is an important medicinal plant. Traditionally, it has been used for treatment of cough, asthma, fever, chronic bronchitis and inflammation. The plant is reported to have innumerable significant pharmacological activities like analgesic, anxiolytic, anti-allergic, anti-microbial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Tribhuvan Kirti Rasa is an ayurvedic medicine used in treatment of acute & chronic fever. It is also used for flu, running nose & allergic rhinitis. It pacifies kapha and vata. It is commonly indicated in influenza, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronchitis. (www.ayurmedinfo.com).

Ber (Ziziphus Mauritiana), also known as Indian plum is a tropical fruit tree. It is both a delicious fruit and an effective herbal remedy. It functions as antidote, diuretic, emollient and expectorant. The fruit is useful in pulmonary ailments and fevers. The leaves are applied as poultices and are helpful in liver trouble, asthma & fever. It is cold in potency and pacifies vitiated pitta & kapha. Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) is valued for its antioxidant, cardioprotective, antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory effects. Other important properties of sea buckthorn include its cytoprotective effects. It acts positively against asthma and pulmonary diseases. It also possess antibacterial and antiviral properties. Kankola (Piper Cubeba) have outstanding record in the folk and unani medicine. Scientific investigations have reported the antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hepatoprotective, anti-asthmatic activities of piper cubeba.
